John Comnenus-Ducas, as emperor of Thessalonica, 1237-1242. Trachy (Bronze, 20 mm, 1.73 g, 6 h), Thessalonica. Half-length figure of St. Theodore facing, bearded and nimbate, holding sword in his right hand and sheath in his left. Rev. Half-length figures of John on the left, wearing crown and loros, and St. Demetrius on the right, nimbate, in military attire; both holding between them cross in circle on staff with triangular decoration on shaft. DOC 17a. SB 2202. Light cleaning scratches, otherwise, good very fine.
